Despite a challenging season that sees Manchester United languishing in 16th place in the Premier League, the club reportedly has no plans to dismiss head coach Ruben Amorim this summer, even if they fail to win the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Amorim took charge in November, tasked with rectifying the issues left by former manager Erik ten Hag. While the team’s league form has been disappointing, the upcoming Europa League final offers a chance to secure Champions League qualification and restore some credibility.

Amorim himself has expressed his “embarrassment” at United’s current predicament and recently hinted at a potential summer exit if significant changes aren’t implemented. He emphasized the need for a shift in approach from everyone at the club or for someone new to take the reins.

However, sources at Manchester United indicate that the club’s hierarchy remains firmly behind Amorim. They reportedly acknowledge the need to recruit players who are better suited to his preferred tactical system, particularly his 3-4-2-1 formation, which Amorim has voiced concerns about the current squad’s ability to execute effectively.

Even if United miss out on Champions League qualification by failing to win the Europa League final, the club is committed to building a squad that can meet Amorim’s tactical demands.

The specifics of their summer transfer activity will depend on their final budget. However, plans are reportedly in place to trigger the £62.5 million release clause of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, a move that is expected to proceed regardless of their European campaign’s outcome.

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30 million release clause, is also cited as a key target. Additionally, Amorim is believed to be seeking upgrades in the goalkeeping and wing-back positions.

Further attacking reinforcements could be pursued if United can generate funds through player sales. Players such as Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, speculatively valued at £100 million, could be targeted if fringe players like Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are sold.
