Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has strongly refuted transfer speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, issuing a firm message: “Stop making things up.”

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe in the summer has seemingly impacted Rodrygo’s standing within the Real Madrid squad. While the Brazilian has featured in a similar number of games compared to last season (one less than his 51 appearances), his perceived importance has noticeably decreased.

Earlier in the season, Rodrygo himself pointedly remarked, “I’m just filling spaces. Is someone missing there? Put Rodrygo in.”

Initial reports in Spain suggested that Rodrygo had come to terms with a future away from Madrid, with some outlets even claiming he was “refusing to play” for the remainder of the campaign.

According to AS, this reported discontent had alerted several Premier League clubs, with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool identified as having the most concrete interest in the versatile forward. Manchester United and Chelsea were also said to be monitoring the situation.

However, Rodrygo has offered a starkly different perspective. In a social media post that appeared to show him undergoing recovery in a hyperbaric chamber, he wrote, “Thank you for all your messages and concerns. I’ll be back soon.” He then directly addressed the transfer rumors, adding, “Stop making things up.”

Rodrygo’s future role at Real Madrid remains uncertain, particularly with the impending departure of Carlo Ancelotti, who has confirmed his move to manage the Brazil national team – where he will have the opportunity to coach Rodrygo. Xabi Alonso is widely expected to succeed Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Furthermore, reports suggest that the incoming Bayer Leverkusen manager, Alonso, is targeting his current team’s key playmaker, Florian Wirtz. The arrival of Wirtz could potentially push Rodrygo further down the attacking hierarchy in the Spanish capital.
