Mohamed Salah has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the 2024–25 campaign.

While there may have been a shortlist of eight players vying for the award, in reality, there could only be one winner. Salah, who also won the award in 2017–18, has so far scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists, leading the Premier League in both categories.

Records have consistently fallen to the Egyptian star, who has been involved in the most goals by any player in a 38-game Premier League season history, and is close to breaking the record for the most assists in a single campaign.

He surpassed Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch in the voting, ending a streak of five consecutive Manchester City players winning the award.

Player of the Season Award Nominees — 2024–25:

  • Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)
  • Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
  • Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
  • Declan Rice (Arsenal)
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
  • Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
  • Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest)

Salah’s season has led many to predict that the Liverpool star will win this year’s Ballon d’Or award. He recently admitted that he sees this as his best chance to claim the prestigious award, and manager Arne Slot shares a similar sentiment.

“He has had very, very, very good seasons at Liverpool, but this one might stand out in terms of numbers,” Slot said. “If you add that we also won the league, that will probably give him a fair chance.

“But luckily for football fans all over the world, he is not the only player who has delivered an amazing season. I think we were able to watch great football players this season again. But if there is ever a chance for him, it will be this season. If not, then he will try to push even harder next season. That is what I already know about him.”
