The race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has taken a significant turn, with Liverpool now reportedly advancing in talks to sign the forward.
Contrary to some reports, sources clarify there have been no new developments between Newcastle and Eintracht. Newcastle’s last bid for the player was rejected on Monday, and no new proposal has been made since, leaving their pursuit at a standstill.
In contrast, Liverpool have moved decisively after being told Alexander Isak is not for sale. The club is now understood to be progressing in club-to-club talks with Eintracht. Furthermore, they are also advancing on the player’s side to agree on personal terms.
With Newcastle’s efforts stalled and Liverpool now pushing on multiple fronts, the Reds have emerged as the clear frontrunners to land Ekitike as they look to secure a replacement for the expected departure of Darwin Núñez.
