New-Look Man United Held to Goalless Draw by Leeds in Pre-Season Opener

Manchester United’s pre-season campaign kicked off with a stuttering 0-0 draw against old rivals Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils, fielding a lineup with several new faces, struggled to find their rhythm or create clear-cut chances throughout the friendly. In the first half, their only notable efforts came from a Chido Obi shot from a tight angle and a deflected Casemiro delivery that bounced off the crossbar.

After the restart, Leeds looked the more likely to score and would have taken the lead if not for several smart saves from substitute goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

United made a late push for a winner and came agonizingly close in the final minutes when a scramble from a corner saw Kobbie Mainoo strike the crossbar. However, the subsequent rebound was missed, forcing United to settle for a draw in their first outing of the summer. The performance suggests it will take time for the new-look squad to gel.
