Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed cautious optimism about his team’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season but issued a stark warning about the intense level of competition they will face.

The Gunners finished as runners-up for a third consecutive season in 2024–25, ending the campaign 10 points behind the eventual champions, Liverpool. This history of near-misses has intensified the pressure on the club to finally make the next step and secure the trophy.

When quizzed on whether his modern side could replicate the feat of Arsène Wenger’s team—who won the league in their fourth campaign after three straight second-place finishes—Arteta was confident. “Yes I do,” he told reporters.

“I see the right balance in terms of maturity, experience, youth, hunger and all these ingredients are there,” he added, praising the makeup of his current squad.

However, the manager immediately tempered this confidence with a serious warning about the strength of their rivals. “The thing is there are another six, seven, eight clubs in the league that have the right ingredients to win and there is only going to be one winner,” Arteta stated.

He revealed that his players share his determination, returning for pre-season focused on improvement. “The only thing that they were talking about…is ‘OK, how are we going to be better? How are we going to do more?’”

Arteta’s message is one of determined but realistic ambition. While he believes his Arsenal side has all the necessary components to finally win the league, he is fully aware that they are in a crowded and difficult race and must focus intently on controlling their own performances to achieve their ultimate goal.
