Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with continued interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guéhi, setting up a direct transfer battle with Premier League rivals Liverpool, who consider him a leading target.

The England international’s future has been a major topic of discussion this summer. With less than a year remaining on his contract, it has been widely claimed that Guéhi is unwilling to sign a new deal, putting Crystal Palace in an awkward position where they must sell now to avoid losing him for free.

Faced with this standoff, Palace have reportedly set a reasonable price tag of between £40 million and £45 million for the 25-year-old international. This valuation has attracted serious interest from Liverpool, but their path to his signature may now be blocked by Spurs.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham, who had several bids rejected in January, are now “weighing up” another run at Guéhi. Their interest is intensified by the uncertainty surrounding their own defender, Cristian Romero, who has openly spoken about the prospect of playing in Spain in the future.

Despite the growing speculation, new Spurs boss Thomas Frank publicly dismissed the talk of signing a new centre-back as “theory,” insisting that Romero is “very committed” and looking forward to the season with the club.

Nevertheless, the race for Marc Guéhi remains very much alive. With his contract situation making a summer move almost certain, a fierce competition between Tottenham and Liverpool is expected to unfold for the signature of the talented Crystal Palace vice-captain.
