Manchester United have made a clear statement regarding their summer transfer plans by leaving four high-profile players out of their squad for the pre-season tour to the United States.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, and Antony have all been omitted from the travelling group that will partake in the Premier League Summer Series. This decision reinforces the club’s strong desire to part ways with the quartet during the current transfer window.
The move comes as new head coach Ruben Amorim begins to shape his squad, particularly after the recent arrivals of attackers Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. In a clear sign of the new order, Mbeumo is travelling with the squad and could make his debut stateside.
To accelerate an exit for Garnacho, United have reportedly slashed his potential transfer fee in half. The Argentine continues to attract interest from Premier League clubs like Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
Antony remains linked with a return to Real Betis after a successful loan spell in the second half of last season. Similarly, Tyrell Malacia, who spent time on loan at PSV Eindhoven, is also expected to depart permanently.
Jadon Sancho’s future also remains unresolved. After a loan spell at Chelsea last season, the Blues paid a penalty to renege on an obligation to buy, sending him back to Old Trafford. His search for a stable playing situation continues this summer.
By leaving these four players at home, Manchester United have unequivocally shown that they are not part of Amorim’s future plans.
