FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Portuguese Primeira Liga side SC Braga for the permanent transfer of 23-year-old fringe striker, Pau Víctor.
According to a report from The Athletic, Braga are set to pay a fee of €12 million plus a potential €3 million in add-ons, bringing the total value of the deal to €15 million.
Furthermore, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano notes that Barcelona are also looking to include a buy-back clause in the final agreement. The deal is now only pending an agreement on personal terms before the player travels to Portugal.
Víctor’s first-team opportunities at Barcelona were severely limited. He was already behind Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in the pecking order, and the recent arrival of new signing Marcus Rashford would have made getting minutes even more difficult.
The sale was also driven by financial necessity. Barcelona need to raise funds in order to register their new summer signings, which made players like Víctor, who could command a reasonable fee, expendable.
After a stellar season on loan at Barça Atlètic in 2023–24, Barcelona made his transfer permanent last summer. However, despite a promising pre-season, he failed to carve out a significant role in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Once the transfer becomes official, Victor will join Álex Valle, Ansu Fati, and Pablo Torre as Barcelona’s fourth major outgoing transfer of the summer, with more departures expected to materialize before the start of the season.
