In a significant development for the future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea, have reportedly ruled themselves out of the running to sign him this summer.

This news, reported by the Daily Mail, comes just a day after it emerged that Isak has informed the Newcastle hierarchy of his desire to leave. While the player is pushing for a move, his potential destinations within England are now narrowing.

Manchester United’s decision to withdraw their interest is due to their recent significant expenditure on attacking players. Having already spent big on signing both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, the club is no longer in the market for another high-profile and expensive forward.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also pulled out of the race as their transfer priorities lie elsewhere. The London club is currently focusing all its efforts and financial resources on completing ambitious deals for attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and young defender Jorrel Hato.

With two major potential bidders now out of the picture, Newcastle’s position is both strengthened and weakened. They are less likely to receive their massive reported £150 million asking price, but it also makes it easier for them to stand firm and attempt to keep the wantaway striker. This leaves other interested parties, such as Liverpool and Al Hilal, with a clearer but still very challenging path to his signature.
