The lengthy transfer saga surrounding Luis Díaz has finally reached its conclusion. According to a breakthrough report from Sky Sport Germany, Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool to sign the Colombian winger. The deal is now considered done.

The final breakthrough in negotiations was achieved after Bayern submitted a new, improved bid on Sunday. The total transfer fee is reported to be up to €75 million. Díaz is set to sign a long-term contract with the German champions, which will run until at least 2029.

The imminent nature of the deal was all but confirmed by Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Saturday. When questioned about Díaz’s absence from the pre-season friendly against AC Milan, Slot candidly admitted, “Yes, Luis Diaz was left out today due to speculation on his future.”

This transfer was heavily driven by the player himself, who had made it clear weeks ago that he was keen on a move to Munich. With personal terms already on the table, the only remaining hurdle was for the two clubs to agree on a fee, a step which has now been completed.

With the agreement in place, the final details of the paperwork are now being sorted. The player is expected to travel to Germany for his medical examinations next week, after which an official announcement will be made.

Bayern Munich have secured their top winger target for the summer, while Liverpool have successfully sold a player who wanted to leave, a move which will likely free up the necessary funds to finalize their own major transfer plans.
