Following his official arrival at Manchester United in a blockbuster transfer, new star striker Benjamin Šeško has given his first interview to the club, revealing his lifelong admiration for a former Old Trafford hero and his immense excitement for the future under Ruben Amorim.
The 22-year-old Slovenian international named fellow striker and former United icon Zlatan Ibrahimović as his ultimate role model. “He’s been my role model since I’ve been small,” Šeško said. “I’ve been watching him, like every single YouTube video that I can find, because he’s just amazing for me, you know. He’s my idol.”
Šeško was quick to point out that while he tries to emulate some of Zlatan’s on-field skills like his famous “high kicks and power strikes,” they do not share the same personality. “We don’t have the same, let’s say, character. But I like to see him, the way he enjoys football,” he explained.
The young forward also detailed why he chose to join United over other interested clubs, describing it as a “historical club that is unbelievable” with a “great project.” He added, “The team is great. It is getting better and better and that’s why also there is just stuff that makes you come there, gives you this energy that you want to be part of.”
Regarding his ambitions, Šeško is confident that the team is on the right path to success. He said his goal is for the team to “grow together step by step,” believing it is only a “matter of time when we can fly high again.”
United’s new number nine also described what he will bring to the team, stating that his direct, attacking style is “what Man United need.” “I’m kind of the guy that is ready to attack, to be in front, if there is a space behind to run it over,” he said.
Šeško’s first words as a Manchester United player will be a source of huge excitement for the fanbase. His respect for club legends, clear understanding of his role, and ambitious vision for the future have set a perfect tone as he begins his career at the Theatre of Dreams.
