Tottenham Hotspur are making an ambitious push to completely overhaul their attack in the final weeks of the transfer window, with the club reportedly back in talks with Crystal Palace for their long-term target, Eberechi Eze.

This move is happening as a separate and parallel negotiation to their ongoing talks with Manchester City for Brazilian winger Sávio. This indicates that Spurs are now actively working on signing two major attacking players at the same time in a bold statement of intent.

The club’s aggressive new strategy has reportedly been triggered by two significant recent events. First, the departure of club captain and legend Son Heung-min created a major void on the wing. This problem has now been compounded by a new injury to their main playmaker, James Maddison.

In a boost for Spurs, Eze is said to be “keen” on the move to North London. This is the second time this summer he has been linked with a top club, after Arsenal’s well-documented interest fizzled out earlier in the window when they were unwilling to meet his release clause.

However, a deal for Eze will be difficult for Tottenham to complete. That release clause, which would have allowed him to leave for a fixed fee, has now officially expired. This means the deal “depends on Palace,” who will now be in a very strong negotiating position and will be able to demand a premium price for their star player.

Faced with the loss of two of their most important creative players, Tottenham are attempting an audacious double signing of Sávio and Eze. While the talks for Sávio are progressing, the renewed pursuit of Eze will now depend entirely on their ability to negotiate a difficult deal with a reluctant Crystal Palace.
