Real Madrid have provided a Trent Alexander-Arnold injury update, confirming the defender is set for up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.
The former Liverpool star lasted less than five minutes of his Champions League debut for the club on Tuesday, as he was forced off with the muscle issue against Marseille.
In an official statement, the club said: “Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. Further updates will follow.”
The injury is a significant blow for the player’s international hopes. Having been omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the September break, he is now set to miss the next England camp for World Cup qualifiers in October, placing his chances of making the plane for the 2026 tournament in doubt.
Furthermore, Alexander-Arnold is now in a race against time to be fit for his highly anticipated return to Anfield. Real Madrid are scheduled to face his boyhood club Liverpool in the Champions League on November 4, but his participation in that emotional homecoming is now at risk.
