The 23-year-old winger, once a regular on the right flank, has struggled to maintain form this season. Before his campaign was prematurely ended by injury, Rodrygo had gone 12 games without a goal across all competitions. In La Liga, he has not scored since January.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Alonso is planning to utilize only Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé in his front line, leaving Rodrygo in a more rotational or support role. His minutes could further decline with the rapid emergence of 20-year-old Turkish talent Arda Güler, who has impressed in recent months.
Since Mbappé’s arrival, Real Madrid’s attacking trio of Vinícius, Mbappé, and Rodrygo has not clicked consistently.
